Yesterday, I’ve tried the 10K track of Adidas King Of The Road 2012 Indonesia. I’m not a pro runner, just a newbie runner so the practice i took, makes my mentally prepared. This review is unofficial and it could got some miss in some route than the original one in the day-race.
The Race Location
The race will take place in BSD (Bumi Serpong Damai) Tangerang, Indonesia. Yes it is Tangerang not Jakarta, but it just takes about 30-45 minutes in light traffic from Center of Jakarta via toll. As said in the information brochure/website there are some shuttle you can take. You may check it on the official website or brochures. There are two alternative route to go to the race location. If u decided to take a cab (taxi), just say to the cab-driver the following instruction:
- If U take route via Slipi-Toll: “Go to BSD City, via Alam Sutra. Go Ahead on the BSD Main Road until find cross road of ‘Giant’ Hypermarket then turn right. After that just follow the road ahead until you find the race location” ( Said in Bahasa Indonesia: “Ke BSD City, lewat Alam Sutra. Di jalan utama BSD lurus sampai ketemu perempatan ‘Giant’ Hypermarket, belok kanan, ikuti jalan sampai ketemu tempat lomba” ).
- If U take route via South Ring Toll: “Go to BSD City, via South-Ring Toll. After exit Toll, find cross road of ‘Giant’ Hypermarket then turn left. After that just follow the road ahead until you find the race location” (Said in Bahasa Indonesia: “Ke BSD City, lewat Tol Lingkar Selatan. Setelah keluar tol BSD, lurus sampai ketemu perempatan ‘Giant’ Hypermarket, belok kiri, ikuti jalan sampai ketemu tempat lomba” )
The Race 10K Track

I just practiced on the 10K track, the official map not clearly show the track on Geo-Map like Google Maps etc. So I decided to track it while i ran with GPS based-tracker Endomondo.
About the scenery around, It’s not so green and was not enough amount of trees there. Moreover it’s summer in Indonesia now. The Road wide enough can load 3-4 cars each side. The Asphalt is good, but when i tracked with my run, there are some sands and dry red mud on the road. Because the areas are under development residences. I saw some heavy load trucks with rock and mud still cross around. I hope before the race, the organizer/committee could clean the road from red mud and sands.
As I tracked, at first kilometer there are a downhill and an uphill. Be prepared don’t spend to much stamina(s) on these. After that, there are no significant downhill or uphill. The route takes a resident area ‘the Icon’ on about second to third kilometer. But I think the residential activity not disturb the race. On fourth and more kilometers are about wide road. On some road that heading to east you will face forwarding the sun light. You can bring a hat or sunglasses, or just face your head down to reduce sunlight straight forwarding your face.
So that’s all my preview, see you at the race.
